Crop Rotation

Garden pests often gang up on a specific plant family, and crop rotation is a way to move families around in your garden to disrupt the pest problem. Growing a plant family in the same spot year after year causes a build up of pests that can damage your plants.

Plan to wait three to seven years between growing crops of the same family in the same spot. This problem is especially common for the Nighshade, Onion and Cabbage family.
