Beware of the carrot rust fly!!!

As it is nearing time to plant carrots for those of you not familiar with the Pacific NW pests one that may not be prevalent in other parts of the country is the Carrot Rust fly. The fly lays eggs in the seed beds and the larvae tunnel into carrots and the carrots are filled with rusty mush.

One of the easiest ways to prevent these pests is to use a floating row cover like Re-may over the seed beds.
